I remembered last night that I used to play around in illustrator a long time ago, I remember doing a logo or something. Being slightly bored on the weekend and going through a silhouette phase I thought I’d muck around with illustrator.
My idea is that I’d like to go somewhere very neutral and get a stack of silhouettes traced from real people. That might be fun. It could also prove difficult (not the illustration part) as I need a space and someone to stand still in various poses like a gumby.
I was messing around with two at the same time, the top one’s up on redbubble....

I recently returned from spending Christmas in Tasmania with my family. I took a few shots, some of the better ones will go up here separately.
Something you don’t get to see where I live – Orion (Iron Pot) is just above the tree, Crux (Southern Cross) isn’t in the frame. Taken at ISO 1600 you can see the beginnings of star trails if you zoom in.
We made a trip up to Strahan and stopped in Tarraleah to get some lunch – which was awfully expensive. I guess it has to be when they wouldn’t get much business. Below is the penstocks leading to the Tarraleah power...

Black & White on a DSLR
I’m not a photographer by any means, it’s just something I enjoy. However; I thought I’d write a post on taking black & white photos and what I feel is the best way to approach this using a DSLR.
I know a lot of people who shoot in JPEG and use the on-board processing to covert the image to black & white however personally I have found post processing to black & white to be more effective. Some people will debate that the on-board processing takes in to account white balance, exposure, and and so on but it’s all about personal preference isn’t...

Hi all.
I’m trying to grow a mo… To raise funds and awareness for prostate cancer and depression… Anyone who knows me will be aware that it’s a difficult task… So I’ve decided it’s going to be named… The Mo of Destiny…. Partially because I have no control over it, it’s just going to be a hairy caterpillar on my top lip (hopefully)
I’m posting a mo-foto a day, to my mospace – http://au.movember.com/mospace/622604/
If you feel like donating to a good cause there is a link on the page…

Over the last few months I seem to have lost my inspiration and enthusiasm for photography. Since my trip to California and Salt Lake City (I wasn’t truly happy with any of the photos) I I’ve been spending most of my time working, sleeping and studying.
As we’re getting further in to spring I’m hoping that it comes back, and perhaps a drive to the tulip festival will be a good starting point. I’m not overly concerned though, this dry spell seems to be a yearly thing for me which is a shame because I’m sure there are many great opportunities in the...

I was in Tasmania on the weekend, at the family home in Molesworth for my Dad’s birthday and a friends wedding.
Here are a few of the images taken that won’t make it up as single image posts. I plan to play around with single image HDR on some but I’ll see how I go. I purchased a little tripod for a trip thats coming up soon – next week, it’s a little flimsy for an SLR but only when fully extended, i’ll put it on the bonnet of a car if I need to, it also gets as low as 5cm which will be very handy for macro.
This is Bliss, one of the dogs. There is...
